Welcome to a discussion forum about 'Worship' in the New Testament.
Some key points to get us started:
• The New Testament never uses 'worship' words to refer to or to describe Christian gatherings. (The word 'worship' is used about 120 times in the NT, translating three groups of Greek words.)
• Various NT authors consistently apply 'worship' words to Christian living in the world, 24x7. Where OT 'worship' concepts are re-applied to Christians, they are applied to 24x7 Christian living in the world, and not to Christian gatherings.
• NT authors refer to and teach about Christian gatherings in various ways, including many statements about the purpose and content of Christian gatherings, but never uses 'worship' words in these contexts.
• Therefore there seems to be a gulf between how the NT uses 'worship' words, and how many modern Christians speak of 'worship'. Indeed, many modern Christians speak of 'worship' as the defining concept for our Christian gatherings, whereas the New Testament provides no support for this idea.
